I kind of wonder if someone tries to do a community split in Nixpkgs, now that Discourse mailing list mode is also unusable. It is not like this minor thing is the only issue…
<samueldr>
obviously someone planned being over quota to split the community
<samueldr>
not like it's something that could end up happening on its own
<samueldr>
sorry, but that sounded like the most tinfoil hatted comment I've read for a while
<samueldr>
(unless you meant that someone _could_ try to use that situation?)
<samueldr>
and for the record, they're aware and working on "fixing" the issue with the discourse
<samueldr>
the more I re-read your comment and the more I was needlessly aggressive in my response, it's obvious you didn't mean that
<samueldr>
sorry
<pie_>
let me guess, we hit some kind of user limit for the free version of discourse or something?
<samueldr>
outbound mail limit
<pie_>
oh
<pie_>
lol ok i was about to start tinfoilhatting about having to enable the discourse cdn every time in noscrip
<samueldr>
it's not a sabotage or anything, at the very least
* pie_
mumbles something about spof for a ton of forums
<pie_>
or at least, it doesnt display _anything_ on mobile unless i enable js, but it does if i request it in desktop mode
<pie_>
which is annoying
<pie_>
anyway...
<IdleBot_8e3e97e9>
Not a sabotage sure. But now that I have unsubscribed from Discourse, I could just as well subscribe to a nixpkgs-discuss mailing list run by just about anyone getting the idea of a mailing list
<IdleBot_8e3e97e9>
What is going on is not anywhere around fix. It is just acknowledging that the pretense of Discourse being usable as a mailing list is a lie.
<IdleBot_8e3e97e9>
(not intentional on anyone on Nix* side, sure)
<sterni>
well there is already a mailing list for submitting patches on sr.ht
<sterni>
but I think it's mostly born out of discourse swallowing patch attachments, so it was virtually impossible to submit patches via discourse
